Wilkes County Public Library Offers Programming for Spiritual Wellness

by Suzanne Moore, Wilkes County Librarian

The holidays can be a stressful time of year, with all the demands of shopping, cooking, entertaining, and traveling.  All these factors can upset our spiritual wellness.  Spiritual wellness offers a meaningful connection between our inner selves, the world, and the transcendent. It provides purpose, resilience, and a sense of belonging.  By exploring life’s questions, spiritual wellness guides us towards purposeful lives. Emotionally, it equips us with tools like compassion and resilience. This wellness fosters unity, empathy, and belonging.  This understanding provides a way to achieve greater peace, freedom, and increased manageability over our healing process.  Come out for these special events and find inspiration and support to lift your spirits and find joy.

December 7 - Howard Isom Book Talk at 5:30 p.m.

After serving twenty years in prison, Howard shares a first-hand account of how God redeemed a life from despair and hopelessness.  Howard’s book But for Mercy is a story of ruin and redemption, of despair and hope, of brokenness and restoration. Collected letters and personal writings from his 20 years of incarceration following a conviction for second-degree murder, paint an honest picture of his journey from rock bottom to new heights in walking with God.

After working as a licensed clinical mental health therapist for 19 years Angel realized that traditional treatment was missing something.  Now she uses her Appalachian folk heritage, trauma and nervous system expertise, along with keen metaphysical and quantum knowledge to cultivate wellness and shift humanity forward on the aligned path.  Come out to hear about holistic techniques of grounding, nature, breathing, and meditation.
