HERITAGE ROOM

The Heritage Room boasts an unparalleled collection of local history and genealogy information about Ashe County, North Carolina. Out-of-town visitors and local residents alike are welcome to visit the Heritage Room to conduct their own research. Use of the collection is free, and an orientation to the collection is available during regular library hours.

MEMORY LAB

Patrons can use our DIY Memory Lab to convert VHS, audiocassettes, 8mm film, vinyl records, and other legacy media to digital formats. We also have a comb binding machine for making booklets. The Memory Lab is located in the Heritage Room, and while use of the equipment is free, fees may be charged for materials to help us keep this service sustainable.

SEED LIBRARY

Ashe Seed Library is located on the upper level of the library. The primary purpose of the seed library is to offer free, open-pollinated seeds to our community. Our mission is to grow and preserve seeds, stories, and foodways specific to Ashe County, Western North Carolina, and the Appalachian Region of the United States.
