Creative Writing Workshop with Matt Cashion

Join us for a special visit from Matt Cashion, an author with North Wilkesboro roots! Matt will facilitate a writing workshop session, followed by a discussion of his newest book and recent essay discussing his grandfather’s 1979 murder in Boone.

About the Author: Matt Cashion, a North Wilkesboro native who attended Wilkes Community College, is the author of the personal essay (and book-in-progress), “The Last Cashion,” which recounts the 1979 murder of his grandfather in Boone. Cashion has published four books of fiction, including Last Words of the Holy Ghost and Our 13th Divorce. After graduating from UNC Charlotte, Cashion worked as a reporter, then earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing. He taught at Mitchell Community College in Statesville, and for the past twenty years, he has been a Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where he lives with his wife, Heather (a librarian), and their herd of domestic animals.
