Talking Service Book Club
Description
Location: Wilkes County Public Library
Audience: Adults
Talking Service Book Club is a growing group open to veterans and anyone who cares about veterans. We meet monthly on the second Fridays in the Friends of the Library Meeting Room. We can open the meetings to anyone who would like to be included via Zoom. To register for Zoom, call 336-838-2818 ext. 241, otherwise, come meet with us!
Each meeting begins with a discussion of one or more readings from Standing Down: From Warrior to Civilian, a collection of works ranging from Homer's Iliad to recent memoirs by veterans of conflict in Iraq and Afghanistan. The readings serve as an entry for attendees, particularly veterans, to talk candidly about their own experiences with others.
