Ashe County Public Library Endowment
About the Endowment
The Ashe County Public Library Endowment was established in 2010 to supplement the funding the library receives from the County of Ashe and the State of North Carolina. A capital campaign to furnish and equip the library during a major renovation and expansion in 2008-2009 generated enough revenue to provide seed money for the endowment, creating a sustainable source of alternative funding that will enhance library services for many years to come.
The endowment cannot be used for operating expenses (e.g., salaries and utilities), and as such is not intended to take the place of state and local funding. Rather, annual distributions from the endowment may provide extra money for books and other materials, or for programs, services, and special projects not covered by the library’s regular budget. The endowment will complement rather than replace the support provided by the Friends of the Library.
The endowment is managed by the Ashe County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation.
